What means UVC and what is it ?

Ultraviolet C (UV-C) is a short wavelength (100-280 nm) radiation and is primarily used for the disinfection of air, surfaces and liquids from microbial contaminants. The UV-C is the wavelength in germicidal applications and is also recommended by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. Ultraviolet light air purification has been used for years by the medical field to sanitize rooms and equipment in order to prevent the spread of illness and disease. High intensity UV light modifies proteins as well, so it is possible that UV light might render an allergen non-allergenic. Long lists of bacteria, viruses and molds also are often quoted to assert the killing power of UV-C.

How do you know your UV lights are effective ?

When it comes to UV sterilization, not all kinds of UV are effective. What does that mean? To get a little technical, ultraviolet (UV) means “beyond violet” and refers to a range of electromagnetic waves with a shorter wavelength (higher frequency and energy) than the visible violet light. UV is divided into three types with reducing wavelengths and increasing energy. They are UVA, UVB and UVC. Ours are C-category with a Wavelenght of 260-280nm which is enough for UV sterilization (100-280nm) and studies have shown that UVC starting at 254 nm is effective against all foodborne pathogens, natural microbiota, molds, and yeasts. Only UVC has high enough energy to effectively kill microorganisms.

How do the UVC light sterilize something ?

We are glad you asked! UV sterilization also known as UV disinfection or ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) works by breaking down certain chemical bonds and scrambling the structure of DNA, RNA and proteins, causing a microorganism to be unable to multiply. When a microorganism is unable to multiply, it is considered dead since it cannot reproduce within a host and is no longer infectious.

Is UVC light harmful to humans/animals?

UVC light can be harmful if there is continuous exposure for 8 hours or more. For sterilizing purposes, FSI UV Sterilizer should be directed at the surface/objects and NOT at another human so it doesn't pose any risk. AVOID EYES AND SKIN CONTACT 

How long do I have to use it to work?

The FSI UVC Sterilizer wands takes from 10 to 59 seconds to disinfect an area/surface and our bags take from 3 up to 5 minutes to sterilize what's inside.

What Is Ozone sterilization? Is it effective ? Does it remove odors?

Ozone is an unstable oxygen molecule that has a very short life-cycle of (approximately 30 minutes) and reacts to anything it collides with. Because of this, ozone can be very powerful in eliminating bacteria, viruses, and killing tiny insects, beg bugs, and cockroaches.  

Inside the bag it will have an effective 360 degree strong penetration during the 5 mins sterilization cycle.

Ozone will also get rid of tobacco smoke, mold, and mildew odor through oxidization. Any irritation and discomfort caused by the allergens and smoke will be alleviated. Do note that if the odor sources such as mold, mildew, and chemical substances are not removed, the odors will return eventually.

Is Ozone harmful for the human body ? 

Ozone can be harmful to health. You will need to seal the bag correctly before activating the cycle, turn it off when it is over and you'll have to let the natural gas DISSIPATE in a VENTILATED area for the next 20-30 mins following the end of the sterilization cycle. When inhaled, ozone can damage the lungs, chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath and, throat irritation.
